The words that echoed around the world and helped to form the bedrock of our shared values. The phrase “Pursuit of Happiness” has an even deeper meaning often overlooked but shares a rich connection with becoming a homeowner.
The founders of the United States viewed property ownership as a fundamental right essential to personal freedom and self-determination. To them, "home" was far more than a mere structure; it embodied one's values, offered safety, and provided a sense of privacy and belonging within a community. Historically, the right to own property was enshrined in the constitutions of many early colonies and states, reflecting a belief that without such ownership, individuals would be at the mercy of rulers or governments who could dispossess them at will.
For me, real estate is more than a financial investment—it’s a cornerstone of individual liberty and a tangible manifestation of the right to self-governance. Just as life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are seen as inalienable rights, property ownership is viewed as a crucial element of personal freedom. It represents a foundational asset and a significant store of wealth for many, underscoring its importance in securing economic stability and autonomy. I am passionate about ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to experience the security and empowerment that come with homeownership.
Originally licensed in 1977, Karsten has practiced Real Estate across three states - Oregon, California, and Colorado as well as backgrounds in mortgage lending, bonds, urban planning, and even philosophy. As a Christian, Veteran, Husband, Father, and Grandfather, Karsten brings a wealth of knowledge that most other Realtors spend an entire lifetime trying to acquire.
